Are Gibson stock pickups good?
Gibson pickups are generally very good. They’re generally versatile and have quality construction. The Bursbuckers, 490’s and Classic 57’s are great for blues and classic rock while the 500T’s and Dirtyfingers are awesome for high gain.
How can you tell if a Gibson pickup is real?
Wrong pole screws on the pickups. Real Gibson pickups have screw heads that fit neatly in the pickup cover holes. Cheaply made copies may have screw heads that cover up the holes.

What does Gibson VOS mean?
Vintage Original Spec
VOS stands for “Vintage Original Spec,” and is not a product designation Gibson uses lightly. With the Historic 1957 Les Paul Custom VOS, the goal was to re-create the experience of playing a classic golden-era Gibson.
Are Gibson classic ’57s worth it?
My take on it is, the Classic ’57 sets are a bargain compared to other companies’ offerings. While I’m typing this, I’m remembering the Gibson ’61R SG comes stock with ’57s… should be easy to track one of those down at a GC to get a taste.
What’s the difference between a 57 Classic and a 57 plus?
I just put a some ’57 classics in my guitar, the classic plus in the bridge and regular ’57 at the neck. Well the classic not only sounds 10 times better, crisper, great note articulation not muddy at all but the Plus has some issues. First the output is lower than the ’57, second it is muddy and harse.
Should I get a Gibson classic or a Gibson plus?
Well the classic not only sounds 10 times better, crisper, great note articulation not muddy at all but the Plus has some issues. First the output is lower than the ’57, second it is muddy and harse. I used Gibson 500k pots, Mojo oil can caps, I have tried the pu close to the strings, far away, I have adjusted pole pieces nothing seems to help.
Is the classic plus pickup up to par?
I appreciate the reply’s but the pickup is still not up to par. The ’57 Classic in the neck sounds great, but the Classic Plus is terrible. Output is same as Classic maybe even lower, clarity is quacky at best and even with a .001 cap on vol pot as a trebel bleed it is muddy and dark.
