How old is a Yas 23?

For reasons that have never been clear, their first student model was not released until 1971. This saxophone was called the YAS-21, and only lasted until 1979. These saxophones were the essential DNA that the 23 would take from and build off of when they hit the scene in 1980. Enter the YAS-23.

Are all Yamaha YAS 23 made in Japan?

They are made in Japan and assembled in the USA. SOME new models are made in Japan. If they have an A after the serial number OR have ASSEMBLED IN USA under the serial number, it’s made in Japan and assembled in the USA.

Where is the serial number on a Yamaha alto saxophone?

Saxophones display their serial numbers on the back of the instrument, near the thumb rest. Older saxophones may also have a serial number on the neck.

To find your saxophone’s serial number, first check underneath the thumb rest. The thumb rest is a metal hook found six inches or so below where the body tube attaches to the neck. A manufacturer’s stamp usually appears on the opposite side of the body tube near the low D key.
