Should children wear insoles?
Studies involving large numbers of children have shown that treatment with special shoes, insoles or splints does not alter the shape of the foot and does not give them an arch. The great majority of children under the age of five with a flat foot develop an arch in time without the use of insoles.
Why do kids need insoles?
They can be used to assist with flat feet, toe walking, weakness, poor balance, frequent tripping, leg length discrepancies, and etc. Orthotics are made to improve a child’s walking pattern to as normal for THEM as possible to facilitate age appropriate child development.
Why does my son walk on the inside of his feet?

Are you born flat footed?

Should kids have arch support?
Most children do not need a special arch support. All toddlers younger than 16 months have flat feet and only fully develop an arch by 6-8 years old. The outer sole provides traction, cushioning, and flexibility to the shoe. Avoid very sticky and thick outer soles as they may cause stumbles and falls.
Why do kids need orthotic insoles?
If at that point a child is still not developing a normal arch, or if in-toeing persists, orthotics may be needed. This is particularly true when the child is involved in athletics and sports activities. In these cases, custom-made orthotic support for the arches can significantly improve gait and running performance.
Are there insoles to keep feet cool?

Do you need insoles?

Do I need insoles in my Shoes?
Low-volume insoles are needed for low-volume shoes such as a cycling shoes, in-line skate boots or ski skate boots. People with very low arches often find a low-volume insole works best for them.
