What do I do if my drive is not detected?
Fix 1. Change Disk Connection – Fix Hard Drive Not Showing Up in File Explorer
- Check the cables. If the power cable or SATA cable is broken, replace the cable with a new one.
- Unplug and replug your hard drive via the SATA cable and power cable tightly.
- Restart your PC to check if the hard drive shows up.
Why won’t my PC detect my hard drive?
If your new hard disk is not detected by or Disk Manager, it could be because of a driver issue, connection issue, or faulty BIOS settings. These can be fixed. Connection issues can be from a faulty USB port or a damaged cable. Incorrect BIOS settings may cause the new hard drive to be disabled.
Does SeaTools work with non Seagate drives?
Welcome to Seagate’s SeaTools for Windows software! It includes several tests that will examine the physical media on your Seagate, Maxtor or Samsung disk drive and any non- Seagate disk drive. SeaTools for Windows should run on both internal and external hard drives.
Does SeaTools detect the internal or external drive?
SeaTools (ver 1.2.0.2 and ver 1.2.04) won’t detect the internal drive but detects external usb drives ok. Can you suggest why? (2) My two Seagate 500GB, 1TB externals record disk temps over 45°C & climbing after a couple of hours running idle with an ambient temp of 22°C.

If Seatools for Windows can scan the drive I see no reason why you would want to use Seatools for DOS. Sometimes Seatools for DOS may not pick up the drive because it does not have the mass storage drivers for the the current chipsets. You can also do a scan with Gsmartcontrol.
Does SeaTools run on Windows 7 64 bit?
Weirdness. SeaTools 1.4.0.4 for Windows, running on Win7 64-bit, on a Skylake H110 / i3-6100 rig. USB drivers from Intel ARE installed. Drive is plugged into a USB high-speed front port, and is recognized by Windows properly.
