You can, theoretically, kayak the entire length of the Potomac River, a 355-mile (571-kilometer) trip that would take a couple of weeks and involve expert paddling and preparation. A better option is to figure out some of the best day and weekend trips, at some of the most scenic places.

Where can I kayak in Potomac?
Access points are at the Angler’s lot and Great Falls Park on Macarthur Blvd and Pennyfield Lock and Riley’s Lock off of River Rd. They also offer sea kayaking lessons at Truxtun Park in Annapolis, MD. The Potomac Paddlesports retail store is located at 11917 Maple Avenue in Rockville, MD.
