What happens when your EDD claim balance runs out?
If you run out of benefits within the benefit year, we will automatically file your PEUC extension on your regular unemployment claim. If you are currently receiving a FED-ED extension, you will continue to collect it until it is exhausted.
What is disqualification week?
Payment will not be allowed due to a determination issued regarding your separation from your employer(s) on the claim or during the benefit year. The most common reasons have to do with the reason you were separated from your job.
How do I correct an error on my unemployment claim California?
If you make a mistake on the paper form, you must request a replacement by Contacting UI or through Ask EDD as indicated below:

How long does it take for PEUC to be approved in California?
Beginning April 10 and continuing through April 17, PEUC recipients who exhausted all their benefits will be able to certify again. Recipients will be notified by email and text message, or mail, when the new claim is processed. Keep in mind that this process can take up to three weeks.
Can I get an extension on my unemployment benefits in California?
Beginning August 8, 2021, the Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED) extension provides up to 13 weeks of additional benefits for people who used all of their unemployment benefits during a period of high unemployment.
How does partial unemployment work in California?
To qualify, you must be unemployed or partially unemployed. Your regular wages, minus either 25% or $25 (whichever is greater), must be less than you would earn weekly in unemployment benefits. If you qualify, you could receive a check covering the difference between your regular wages and what you make now.
What if I made a mistake on my EDD certification online?
After you submit your certification and receive a confirmation number, you can make changes by sending a question through the Contact Us page in your UI Online account. Select the category Certify for Continued Benefits and the topic Made a Mistake on Continued Benefits Certification.
Are unemployment benefits extended in California?
Claimants receiving regular unemployment benefits under the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) extension will be able to certify for new weeks starting April 30. Both PUA and PEUC benefits have been extended for eligible claimants for 29 weeks through September 4, 2021.
