What is FK bearing?
FK Bearings is the leading USA manufacturer of rod ends, spherical bearings, custom-engineered bearings, and related products. Established in 1983, FK Bearings brings over 35 years of experience to the performance racing, off-road, and industrial markets.
Where are FK Bearings made?
FK Bearings corporate headquarters and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Southington, Connecticut. Certified to the ISO 9001 quality management system, emphasizing process control, we promote and embrace continuous improvement throughout our entire organization.
What is a rose bearing?
Rod Ends. Rod ends can also be referred to as a rod end bearing or a rose joint and they are a type of bearing that has a circular head with an opening and a threaded shaft attached. It is a type of mechanical articulating bearing joint often used in the automotive industry.
What do spherical bushings do?
Spherical bushings work very similarly to rod ends, but the bushings has a much larger surface area than the rod end. In high-power or high-load applications, this increase in surface area spreads the load, giving you an increase in strength. This will also allow the bushing to last longer than a smaller rod end.
What are spherical roller bearings used for?
A spherical roller bearing is a rolling-element bearing that permits rotation with low friction, and permits angular misalignment. Typically these bearings support a rotating shaft in the bore of the inner ring that may be misaligned in respect to the outer ring.
What is a heim joint used for?
Heim joints are commonly used for steering on buggies and race trucks because they can be found in much larger sizes than even “one ton” tie-rod ends. In addition to steering, they are commonly used in suspension links, throttle linkages, and other components that need to pivot and be adjustable in length.
How strong are Heim joints?
These Heim joints are made for heavy-duty use. They offer a 28,000 Pound Static Load Rating as well as being a crucial part of any steering joint, link joint, and front end rebuild kit making them ideal for any custom jobs, DIY projects, jeep buggy, and much more. These rod ends have a 3/4” Shaft with 16tpi.
Are spherical bushings worth it?
For high-load applications, like the upper control arm on Three-Link Mustangs, a spherical bushing may be a better option than a rod end. This will also allow the bushing to last longer than a smaller rod end. The downside is an increase in weight over a rod end.
Do spherical bushings need grease?
Generally, where possible, the free space surrounding the bearing should be filled with grease. SKF recommends using SKF LGHB 2 grease to lubricate steel/steel spherical plain bearings. Its properties include: excellent performance under heavy loads.
Why the double row roller bearing is used?
Double Row or Two Row cylindrical roller bearings are designed for heavy loads that can’t be serviced with a single row bearing. The additional row of rollers allows for the increased radial loads.
Where do you use self aligning ball bearings and spherical roller bearings?
This bearing should only be used in light axial load applications due to the small axial capacity. For applications where the bearing load (particularly axial load) carrying capacity is insufficient, spherical roller bearings, which have the same self-aligning property, should be used instead.
Why is it called a heim joint?
While we are using the term Heim joint, named after the inventor Lewis Heim, these are also known as spherical rod ends. In addition to steering, they are commonly used in suspension links, throttle linkages, and other components that need to pivot and be adjustable in length.
