What is UNM SHAC?

UNM SHAC is located on Main Campus north of Johnson Center and across the mall from (east of) the Student Union Building. (See map below.) SHAC provides quality health and counseling services to all UNM students to foster student success. Fees charged at SHAC are much lower than community rates. SHAC is funded in part by student activity fees.

How do I get my birth control pills at SHAC?

For birth control pills (oral contraception) only: Please call SHAC at (505) 277-3136 to schedule a phone appointment with a SHAC medical provider. Parking is available behind the SHAC building and parking validation is available in the Pharmacy. The Pharmacy is located on the Plaza Level of Student Health & Counseling (SHAC). Present your ID.

Your UNM Center for Reproductive Health team is experienced in basic and complex birth control, family planning, and abortion and miscarriage care. We also offer free pregnancy tests on a walk-in basis.
