Where can I park wild camping Dartmoor?
Some of our favorite wild camping spots in Dartmoor include Birch Tor Mine – you can see how to get there at this link. The Bellever/Riddon Ridge area is also a very beautiful spot that lies beside the River Dart, and there are toilets close by at the Forestry Commission car park.
Can you camp overnight on Dartmoor?
You can backpack camp on some parts of Dartmoor. This is by carrying your own equipment as part of your walk and staying one or two nights max. You can only do this in certain areas (see map below). No overnight stays in vehicles, campervans or motorhomes.

Make sure you choose your wild camping toilet site at the very least 50 metres away from any nearby water source, for the benefit of all local wildlife (human and animal) and dig a hole in the ground that is roughly 15-20cm. Enough to cover it properly. Don’t poop here!
